| Zeta-TCP makes the unilateral WAN optimization deployment possible | ||

TCP dominates 90% of the network traffic nowadays and the trend keeps growing. Most of today's popular applications are running on TCP. But as a protocol which was developed decades ago, TCP is becoming a bottleneck with the fast evolving of applications and the network access technologies. The key problem is that TCP is not adaptive well to significant packet loss and latency. To cope with TCP's inefficiency, most of the WAN optimization players have developed approaches that are labeled "TCP Optimization", "TCP Acceleration" or "Protocol Acceleration", etc. They usually transform TCP into their proprietary protocols that are better suited for the link conditions to promote the WAN bandwidth utilizations. Utilizing proprietary protocols, these solutions all require symmetric (or bilateral) deployments. Symmetric deployments work well for the corporate scenarios with multiple branch offices, with the acceleration equipments installed at every branch. However, in the most majority of the scenarios it will be impractical or impossible to require all communication peers to have these equipments. The symmetric restriction is fatal to the wide adoption of such optimizations.
AppEx Zeta-Tcp is the industry's only TCP acceleration engine that is able to accelerate TCP connections on both upload and download directions by a unilateral deployment. This unique feature expands protocol acceleration from the high-cost, high-maintenance, proprietary technology which is only affordable to large enterprises, to a flexible, simple and cost-efficient deployment that benefits small-medium businesses and organizations equally. ![]() The capability of asymmetric acceleration dramatically increases WAN Optimization's market reach, allowing a much wider range of users to enjoy superior network performance from this emerging technology.
